Verstappen won't do Rosberg any favours in title shootout
Nico Rosberg has been warned that he will be afforded no favours from Red Bull as he looks to secure a maiden Formula One drivers' title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Rosberg needs a podium finish at the Yas Marina Circuit to beat team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the title, with the Briton realistically requiring a win to keep the heat on Rosberg.
Hamilton has won the last three races with Rosberg following him home.
Red Bull duo Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen could have a part to play, however.
The Dutch teenager would surely have split the Silver Arrows last time out in a sodden Interlagos had Red Bull not let him down with strategy, and also threatened the championship leader in Mexico before that.
If Rosberg is not able to clear the Red Bulls in good time, Verstappen has warned him he will not think twice about going for another of his headline overtakes.
"You never try to crash, and we need to leave it fair, but if we are between them I will be fighting for my position," Verstappen said.
"Lewis has a big chance to win the race and there still needs to be someone between them. Nico will be in control and managing the situation.
"If it goes normally Nico will be champion, but with Lewis pushing hard, it is up to what Nico does and how he handles it."
