Swiss skier Beat Feuz could miss the FIS Alpine World Cup events in Lake Louise next week after suffering from facial paralysis.
According to a statement released on the Swiss ski team website, the 29-year-old experienced the problem during training in Colorado and was diagnosed with a nerve issue in the right side of his face.
The 2015 downhill world championship bronze medallist, who has been ruled out of action due to issues with eyelid closure, experienced the problem 15 years ago, when the symptoms lasted for two weeks.
Both the cause of the affliction and the expected recovery timescale is unknown.
Feuz recorded two race wins last season, in the downhill and super G at St. Moritz in his native Switzerland.
