New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner is out of the first Test against Pakistan due to a fractured wrist.
Santner, 24, suffered the injury while training with the Northern Knights ahead of a Plunket Shield match.
X-rays showed a fracture in his right wrist, seeing him ruled out of the first Test starting November 17 in Christchurch.
"After such a strong tour of India, it's really disappointing for Mitch to pick up this injury ahead of the first match of the home summer," New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said.
"We're unsure whether Mitch will be available for the second Test at this stage, but we'll be monitoring his recovery closely and look forward to having him back."
New Zealand and Pakistan are scheduled to meet in a two-Test series, with the second match in Hamilton.
