Mike Ford has taken over as head coach at Toulon after the three-time European champions parted company with Diego Dominguez.
Dominguez only replaced Bernard Laporte in the top job at Stade Mayol before the start of this season, but the former Italy fly-half has already been relieved of his duties.
Former Bath boss Ford was appointed as backs coach by the Top 14 giants last month and Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal on Monday confirmed that the Englishman has been promoted.
Toulon are fourth in the Top 14 table after losing three of their first eight games and are second in European Champions Cup Pool Three following a victory at Sale Sharks last Friday after losing to champions Saracens.
Ford was sacked by Premiership side Bath in May following a disappointing 2015-16 campaign.
