After making a losing start to the NHL season, the Columbus Blue Jackets finally opened their account at the third time of asking.
Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky starred as the Blue Jackets defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 on Friday.
The New York Islanders edged the Arizona Coyotes by the same scoreline.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Red Wings trumped the Nashville Predators 5-3.
BOBROVSKY HELPS END DROUGHT
The Blue Jackets lost their first two games of the season against the San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins.
But that all changed thanks to Bobrovsky, who made 32 saves in Columbus.
Zach Werenski, Nick Foligno and William Karlsson were all on the scoresheet for the Blue Jackets, who led 3-1 at the end of the second period.
Chicago's Richard Panik continued his solid start to the season with his fifth goal, while he also had an assist.
BOYCHUK SETTLES CONTEST IN NEW YORK
With the game tied at 2-2 with four minutes played in the third and final period, Johnny Boychuk scored the match-winner for the Islanders.
Boychuk's shorthanded goal four minutes, 24 seconds into the period - his first of the season - saw off the Coyotes and spared the Islanders' blushes.
The Islanders had led 2-0 midway through the opening period thanks to Dennis Seidenberg and Ryan Strome until Brad Richardson and Radim Vrbata levelled proceedings heading into the second.
