Love, Couples and Woods given Presidents Cup roles
Davis Love III, Fred Couples and Tiger Woods will assist United States captain Steve Stricker at the 2017 Presidents Cup, though a playing role for the latter has not been ruled out.
Love captained USA as they regained the Ryder Cup from Europe at Hazeltine last weekend, with Woods and Stricker among his assistants.
Couples - a three-time Presidents Cup captain - and Love worked under Jay Haas during the 2015 Presidents Cup victory, while Woods has been named in the role for the first time.
Stricker said: "I asked Davis to join the US team as a captain's assistant before the Ryder Cup, but if I needed any further proof of his incredible leadership skills, last week's event - and outcome - would be more than enough.
"The players love playing for him, and I know I'll be able to lean on him for a lot of insight and help throughout my first time as a captain.
"I was honoured to be a part of his team at the Ryder Cup, and I'm honoured he has agreed to do the same for me at the Presidents Cup."
After over a year out of competition since August 2015, Woods is set to return to action at the Safeway Open next week.
Stricker admitted the 14-time major winner could still be a playing member, but acknowledged his presence will be valuable in any capacity.
"Tiger certainly could play his way onto the US Team, and if that happens, replacing him as a captain's assistant will be a great problem for me to have," said the captain.
"But if he doesn't, I'm honoured he accepted this role for the first time in his impressive Presidents Cup career. Tiger has been a great team-mate and friend over the years, and I know the US guys will benefit from the experience and camaraderie that only Tiger can bring."
International team captain Nick Price announced Ernie Els, Tony Johnstone and Geoff Ogilvy as his assistants for the tournament at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey which begins in September 2017.
