Sergio Perez is confident his Force India future will be resolved by next weekend.
Speaking ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix, the Mexican - linked with Renault, Ferrari and Williams - described the next week as "crucial".
Asked about any progress on the matter, he said in quotes reported by Motorsport.com: "No news at the moment.
"I know every weekend I keep saying this, but I really hope that by next weekend we will know. It's obviously taking longer than expected, but it's all going in the right direction, so I hope next weekend we will know.
"My deals are quite complicated. Obviously my sponsors have to do the deals first. We must make sure that everything is in place, and hopefully we can come into an agreement soon. Because if we don't, it will be quite difficult."
The 26-year-old insisted the timing of any announcement would not be held for next month's Mexican GP.
"I don't think I can take that long," he added. "The longer you take, the fewer options are available. People are not going to wait forever for you.
"I believe that next week is crucial to sort out my future."
Perez - who moved to the team from McLaren ahead of the 2014 season - has earned 66 points this season, 20 more than team-mate Nico Hulkenberg.
