Tony Parker has backed Pau Gasol to fill the void left by the "irreplaceable" Tim Duncan at San Antonio Spurs ahead of the new NBA season.
Duncan called time on his illustrious basketball career at the end of last season after playing his whole career with the Spurs and winning five NBA titles.
San Antonio moved quickly to replace Duncan with the signing of Gasol from Chicago Bulls and Parker predicts his new Spanish team-mate has the qualities to lift the Spurs.
"It will be weird [without Duncan] for sure," the Frenchman told Omnisport.
"A player like Tim Duncan is irreplaceable so we will miss him. Now it's up to us to keep the Spurs at the highest level possible.
"We'll just have to do things differently, because he was a key player during 20 years. We'll have to adapt, everybody will have to have a bit more leadership, and we'll do things a bit differently.
He added: "We're lucky to have signed Pau. Pau is a very, very good player so he's going to try to adapt as fast as possible and do kind of what Tim did.
"It's clear that without signing Pau, it would have been very difficult."
