Teenage Ioane among All Blacks call-ups for second Bledisloe clash
New Zealand have called up teenage Auckland centre Rieko Ioane as one of five injury replacements ahead of Saturday's second Bledisloe Cup clash with Australia.
The uncapped 19-year-old, fresh from competing with the country's sevens team at Rio 2016, has joined the squad in Wellington after Ryan Crotty picked up a head knock in the All Blacks' opening 42-8 win over the weekend.
"He had a very good Super [Rugby] season and he's really someone that we see in the future that could have a long career," coach Steve Hansen said.
"But this environment I'm sure will really test him, so we'll just have to monitor that and see how he copes with it. If we think he's coping well enough with it, then he may get an opportunity. If he's not then he won't.
"What I do know is that the time being spent with us will be worthwhile. We'll get payback for it somewhere, whether in the short term or the long term."
