Conor McGregor just broke the news that Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new Real Madrid contract
Sports journalists of the world, up your game - you've just been scooped by Conor McGregor.
The Irish UFC fighter broke some big football news when he revealed his mate Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new contract with Real Madrid.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, he let the news slip after being asked at a promotional event if he might overtake 31-year-old Ronaldo on the Forbes list of high-earning celebrities.
He said: "That'll be tough, he's just signed a new contract with Real Madrid but we'll see - maybe next year I'll have him!"
And if you're wondering how a 28-year-old fighter from Lucan might have the inside story on the greatest footballer in the world (face facts, Lionel), the pair are friends and spent time together in America this summer.
AS now expects the news of the contract, likely to see him through to at least 2020, to be officially confirmed by the Bernabeu club at some point this month.
