Tedesco blow for Tigers
Wests Tigers have confirmed that star full-back James Tedesco sustained a fractured jaw in Saturday's dramatic NRL defeat against Gold Coast Titans.
A bloodied Tedesco was helped off the field with just over 20 minutes remaining in the 19-18 loss at Campbelltown Stadium after being caught by the arm of Titans captain Ryan James.
Tedesco was taken to hospital and Wests revealed that the influential 23-year-old suffered a break which is set to bring his season to a premature end.
A club statement said: "Scans tonight have confirmed Tedesco's jaw is fractured, with the full-back leaving the field in the 59th minute of today's game.
"Tedesco has now been discharged from hospital and will consult with a specialist on Monday.
"A further update on the extent Tedesco's injury will be available following this appointment."
Tigers coach Jason Taylor said after the game: "We'll leave it to the judiciary to sort it [potential punishment for James] out."
Jarryd Hayne added insult to injury by snatching a 19-18 victory with a last-gasp field goal to enhance the Titans' chances of sealing a place in the top eight and strike a major blow to the Tigers' final hopes.
