Rio 2016: Rain leads to tennis postponement

Rain led to all Olympics tennis in Rio de Janeiro being postponed on Wednesday, including singles matches for Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal.

Defending men's singles champion Murray must wait to meet Fabio Fognini, while Nadal takes on Gilles Simon in the third round after the persistent rain led to rescheduling at the Games.

A blockbuster quarter-final between Angelique Kerber and Johanna Konta in the women's singles, wide open following Serena Williams' loss, will also be played on Thursday.

Among others to be rescheduled were Juan Martin del Potro, who beat Novak Djokovic in the first round, Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori.

Nadal, the 2008 singles gold medallist, is due to play three matches, teaming up with Marc Lopez and Garbine Muguruza in the men's doubles and mixed doubles respectively.
