We experienced all the emotions as Louis Smith fell off the pommel horse and Britain missed out on a medal

It was an emotional evening as Team GB narrowly missed out on a medal in the men's gymnastics final after Louis Smith fell off the pommel horse.

Japan won the gold medal, Russia the silver and China took bronze. Britain came in fourth place, just two marks behind China.

The scores were close all the way through the evening. By the final rotation literally everything was to play for - look how close those scores were!

Watching Team GB was really very stressful as the teams fought for every single point.

When US athlete Danell Leyva actually fell off the bar, the tension increased ten fold.

But then Louis Smith, who won individual silver for Team GB at London 2012 fell off the pommel horse, and our chances of taking home a medal disappeared.

Twitter users praised the gymnast - to beat China he needed to go full out and earn a great score, which he tried to do.

Tough luck - but the team should be incredibly proud of their achievement!
