The San Francisco Giants acquired All-Star starting pitcher Matt Moore from the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday before the MLB trade deadline.
Giants third baseman Matt Duffy, who was in the running for rookie of the year last season, is one of the players heading to Tampa Bay in the deal.
Duffy is hitting .253 with four home runs and 21 RBIs in an injury-plagued season. Minor leaguers Lucius Fox, a shortstop, and right-handed pitcher Michael Santos are also headed to the Rays.
The Giants added All-Star Eduardo Nunez last week in a trade from the Minnesota Twins. He will now be the everyday third baseman.
Moore, 27, is 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.27 WHIP this season. The 2013 All-Star has gone at least six innings and given up two or fewer runs in seven of his last nine outings.
The addition of Moore gives the Giants another quality left-handed pitcher to team with Madison Bumgarner.
