Former Edinburgh second-rower Alex Toolis will return to Australia after signing a deal with Super Rugby outfit Melbourne Rebels.
The Brisbane-born 24-year-old joined the Pro12 outfit in 2013, while his team reached the European Challenge Cup final last year.
For the first time, Toolis will play in Super Rugby after Rebels confirmed his signing on Friday.
"Alex is an athletic and skilled lock who will bring strong set-piece experience to the Melbourne Rebels and a hungry attitude to succeed in the world's toughest rugby competition," Rebels coach Tony McGahan said.
Toolis has also had stints with London Irish and Glasgow Warriors during his time in Europe, and he is eager to bring his skills back to Australia.
"Playing in Europe was a great experience and helped develop my game but I'm excited by the opportunity to return home and test myself against the world's best players with the Melbourne Rebels," he said.
Rebels missed the play-offs in Super Rugby this year after winning seven of their 15 games.
