The President of the European Council got mixed up between UK and England when he tweeted about Iceland's shock win


English heads might have been spinning after their shock Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Iceland.

But it seems the hysteria of the occasion even got to the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, who seemingly forgot the difference between the United Kingdom and England after he posted this tweet after the final whistle.

A flood of corrections came in from Twitter followers, which resulted in this climb down...

After England's exit from the European Union last week the obvious parallels between the Brexit result and the 2-1 defeat in Nice were made on Twitter...a lot.

For most England fans, however, coming to grips with possibly the most unexpected exit from a major tournament in the history of the national team was all they could worry about.

They vented and not even Roy Hidgson's resignation immediately after the 2-1 loss helped.

Celebrities got involved too.

With Hodgson gone the fall-our immeidately began - his assistants Ray Lewington and Gary Neville have gone too - and focus for some turned to who will be the next England boss...
