Anderson fined for Herath verbals

England quick James Anderson has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee as well and reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for sledging Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath during the Test at Lord's.

Anderson pleaded guilty to a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct after the clash with veteran Herath on day three of the final Test of the series on Saturday.

England's leading wicket-taker was also punished for showing disrespect to S. Ravi after the umpire warned him against verbally engaging with Herath.

Anderson, the world's top-ranked Test bowler, will lose half of his match fee as a result of his conduct and has been issued with a warning by the governing body.
