Nathan Lyon believes Adam Zampa is developing into a great spinner and is hopeful he can win matches for Australia alongside the leg-break bowler.
Zampa and Lyon have both been included in Australia's squad for the 50-over tri-series in the Caribbean with West Indies and South Africa.
Australia face the Windies - who defeated South Africa in the tournament opener - on Sunday.
Zampa took 12 wickets in just five games at an average of 9.58 in this year's Indian Premier League having posted multi-wicket performances in the World Twenty20 against Bangladesh and Pakistan.
He will now battle for a place in the ODI side with Australia's established Test spinner Lyon, who said of the 24-year-old: "It's exciting to see him come through.
"He's developing into a great spinner. He's backed himself. He understands where his game is at. He trusts his spinning ability and he's come along in leaps and bounds.
"We're really good mates ... I've known him for a few years now. Hopefully if we get the chance to play out there in the middle together, we can win a couple of games for Australia."
