Parramatta Eels captain Kieran Foran has been granted indefinite leave in order to deal with personal issues.
The inspirational half-back is reported by Sydney's Daily Telegraph to have been in hospital this week as he struggles to come to terms with the breakdown of his relationship with his long-term partner, who recently gave birth to their second child.
NRL side Parramatta announced on Thursday that their skipper and playmaker will not be available for selection for the time being.
"The Parramatta Eels have granted Kieran Foran an indefinite leave of absence to seek the best possible medical treatment regarding a personal matter." the Eels said in a statement.
"The club will be making no further comment and request that the media respect Kieran's privacy at this time."
Foran, 25, joined the Eels from Manly Sea Eagles ahead of the current campaign.
