Pagenaud dominates in Alabama for back-to-back IndyCar wins

Simon Pagenaud secured back-to-back IndyCar series wins following a dominating performance at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on Sunday.

Pagenaud led for all but six of the 90-lap race around the Barber Motorsports Park in his Team Penske Chevrolet to add to his win at Long Beach last week.

The victory extended his championship lead to 48 points over Scott Dixon after the first four rounds, which includes four top-two finishes for the Frenchman.

Pagenaud took the checkered flag 13.747 seconds ahead of runner-up Graham Rahal in the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda.

Josef Newgarden (+15.803secs) finished third - the same spot he started the race - with Pagenaud's team-mate Will Power (+16.731s) coming home in fourth.

Winner of the opening round of the season, Juan Pablo Montoya (+21.116s) rounded out the top five to maintain his third spot in the drivers' standings.

Pagenaud will now be looking to complete a hat-trick of wins in two weeks' time at the Angie's List Grand Prix of Indianapolis.
