Faosiliva suspended by Bath after pleading guilty to assault

Samoa international Alafoti Faosiliva has been suspended by Bath after pleading guilty to assault.

The 30-year-old back-rower admitted to assaulting a 21-year-old student in Bath in February and is due to return to court for sentencing next month.

A statement from the Premiership club said: "Bath Rugby can confirm that Alafoti Faosiliva appeared at Bath Magistrates Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to assault, with sentencing due in early May.

"The Club takes matters such as this very seriously. It does not condone behaviour of this sort, and can confirm that Faosiliva has been suspended pending conclusion of the judicial process.

"Bath Rugby will not be making any further comment until the conclusion of this process."

Faosiliva, who has won 15 caps for his country and played in the World Cup last year, joined Bath from Bristol three years ago and also spent a spell with Toulon.
