Fener rally to trump Crvena Zvezda, Jankunas leads Zalgiris
Fenerbahce overturned a double-digit deficit as the Euroleague Top 16 high-flyers prevailed 72-65 against Crvena Zvezda on Friday.
Crvena Zvezda led 36-26 early in the third quarter until Fener rallied, outscoring the Serbian visitors 24-6 heading into the final period at Ulker Sports Arena in Istanbul.
And Fener never surrendered their advantage as the Group E leaders improved to an 8-1 win-loss record.
Luigi Datome had a career-high outing for Fener, posting 27 points, with 22 of those coming in the second half, while he contributed five rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
Crvena Zvezda, who dropped to 5-4 in fourth position, were led by Maik Zirbes' 11 points on the road.
Zalgiris captain Paulius Jankunas enjoyed an historic game as the Lithuanian champions edged Brose Baskets Bamberg 75-73 in a thriller.
Jankunas scored his 2,000th career point in the second period, while he moved into third position for all-time rebounds in Euroleague after collecting his 1,289th.
The 31-year-old finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds as Zalgiris (2-7) snapped a four-game losing streak in Group F.
Nikos Zisis was the pick of the Bamberg (3-6) players with 25 points.
Elsewhere in the group, Olympiacos accounted for Laboral Kutxa 82-68.
