Canadiens down Caps, Ducks win again

The Washington Capitals had their four-game winning run in the NHL ended by the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.

The NHL-leading Capitals suffered a 4-3 loss at Verizon Center as Alex Galchenyuk scored twice for the victors.

The Canadiens set up their win with the first three goals of the game as Galchenyuk, Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Fleischmann struck.

Galchenyuk restored his team's three-goal advantage after Jason Chimera had scored, and they held on in the third period.

The Anaheim Ducks stretched their winning streak to six games with a 1-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

Sami Vatanen scored the game's only goal early in the second period as the Ducks' form run continued.

Tuukka Rask was the hero for the Boston Bruins as the goaltender made 41 saves in a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Colorado Avalanche needed a shoot-out to overcome the San Jose Sharks 4-3.
