Dhoni encouraged by India display ahead of World T20

MS Dhoni believes India are finding form at just the right time in Twenty20 cricket after sealing a 2-1 series triumph against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

With the World T20 only weeks away, host nation India completed their comeback from 1-0 down courtesy of a comprehensive nine-wicket win in Visakhapatnam.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the star performer as the spinner took a career-best 4-8 from his four overs as Sri Lanka slumped to 20-4, the tourists eventually dismissed for 82 - their lowest T20 total.

Dhoni's side then knocked off the runs with 37 balls to spare, Shikhar Dhawan leading them home with an unbeaten 46.

"I feel it was a very good game, important we restricted them to a decent total," he said. "Ashwin was the pick, but he was well supported by the others.

"We want to keep playing the way we're playing. Consistency will give us the confidence.

"We are always a top contender when it comes to shorter formats. We have got a lot of players, especially ones who are the part of the team, who have got very good experience of playing in India.

"Overall we are looking good, but a bit more batting to the middle order will help."

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal rued an abysmal batting display as they slumped to an embarrassing defeat.

"We didn't perform well throughout the series as batsmen," he said. "If we got 140-plus, we would have had a chance, but we didn't do that.

"We need to regroup as a team."
