Steve Smith decides against retirement

Baltimore Ravens receiver Steve Smith will return to action in 2016, having previously been expected to retire at the end of the current campaign.

The 36-year-old initially said 2015 would be his final season in the NFL, but after a torn Achilles in Week 8 the veteran wideout decided he wanted to end his storied career on his own terms.

He tweeted: "Wit the blessing of My Family, Friends & Fans!! 2016 Let's give'em Hell."

Smith was playing incredible football this season before being placed on injured reserve. He had 670 receiving yards through seven games, creating the league's fourth-best receiving yards-per-game average (95.7).
