Dirk Nowitzki has passed legend Shaquille O'Neal into sixth-place in the NBA all-time scoring list.
The Dallas Mavericks forward scored 22 points in their 119-118 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday to move above O'Neal (28,596).
Nowitzki now has a career NBA points tally of 28,609 and trails fifth-placed Wilt Chamberlain (31,419), meaning the 37-year-old sits between two of the biggest names in the competition's history.
The German has spent his entire NBA career in Dallas after being picked by the Mavericks in the 1998 draft.
Nowitzki has one NBA championship to his name (2011), as well as one NBA Most Valuable Player award (2007) and is a 13-time NBA All-Star.
