Shocking footage shows cyclist carry out broad daylight knife attack before riding away

This is the shocking moment a cyclist appears to stab a car passenger with a giant knife in broad daylight.

Footage of the incident, which was uploaded by website Birmz is Grime, shows a man riding a bike on Alum Rock Rock in Birmingham on Easter Sunday.

Suddenly, the man dismounts and pulls a knife from his sleeve when he spots a car.

He can then be seen thrusting the blade through the car’s open window as it waits in traffic.

In the footage, the driver appears to try and swerve around other cars to escape the attack as the suspect backs away.

The knifeman, who can be seen wearing a black hoodie and tracksuit bottoms, then picks his bicycle up and flees the scene while the car disappears from view.

It is believed the attack occurred at around 6pm on Sunday evening.

West Midlands Police has been contacted for comment.

The footage has been viewed thousands of times online.

One viewer commented underneath: "Absolutely shocking" while another wrote: "Omg the person that witnessed this my thoughts are with you x and the victim In this."

Another web user said: "This is becoming all too common on our streets. No regard for human life."

A fourth person wrote: "I hope the victim is okay, the fact he is able to open the car door is a positive sign at least.

"The level of violence in this is just disgusting. He is aiming to do some serious damage here, you can tell."

One added: "The fact this doesn't shock me anymore is perhaps the most shocking thing about it. Our streets are becoming lawless."
