Shih-Tzu Totally 'Got Did Dirty' After Unfortunate Trip to the Groomer

It's always great when you get your dog back from the groomer. They are all clean and smelling great, their fur is trimmed, their nails are clipped, and they look absolutely adorable.. that is, unless they come back looking like a totally different dog.

That's what happened to one dog owner who sent her dog off to the groomer and got her dog back looking very different from when he went in.

The hilarious video was shared by the TikTok account for @_abbycpt and everyone can feel this dog mom's pain. One person commented, "She looks like she wants to talk to the manager... still cute though." Another added, "Throw some holy water on it." LOL, mean! Another person replied, "Jeez how do they get it so wrong." Still another said, "The difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut….is 4 weeks." LOL!

This dog is cute regardless, but yeah, I would have been pretty steamed too. There's never a guarantee that your own pup won't get a bad haircut, I mean, it's happened to the best of us humans too, but there are a few things you can do to try and minimize the risk.

How To (Hopefully) Avoid a Bad Grooming Job

Just like with any other dog service (Veterinary care, boarding, doggy daycare) your first course of action is to ask your friends and family where they take their dog. If they trust their usual groomer to do a good job, it's a great sign for your dog.

So many groomers have social media, so check Instagram and Facebook to see if they have a social media page where you can see their work and read reviews from their clients.

If you're nervous, schedule an appointment for your pup to have a bath, or ask for a consult. Like with any business, ask questions. Ask what they do if your dog is nervous, how they handle nail trims, if anal gland expressing is extra, all those things. If they are just bathing your dog you can get a chance to know them and check out their vibe before you trust them to cut your dog's fur.

Be very specific about what you want. If you want a teddy cut, ask for it. If you don't want your dog to be shaved, tell them. Bring photos of cuts your dog has received previously that you like, or photos from similar cuts on the same breed.

And tip your groomer! They certainly do work hard and a great groomer is hard to find!
