Those final years spent with your pet are so bittersweet. But it appears that one man online has found a way to freeze the process entirely.

We're sure the man, who goes by @the_rehumanist online, didn't mean to extend his senior dog's life but that's exactly what happened.

The man shared several adorable videos of his senior pup Charlie frolicking outside, which is pretty impressive since he is sort of an oldster in dog years.

"POV: You moved your 17-year-old dog out to the country so he could finish his life on a farm, but it gave him a second wind and now he refuses to die," the dog dad joked in the caption.

"Not that I’m complaining or anything, but he has been two weeks away from dying for the past four years," he kidded.

Judging by the video that the man shared, it's hard to believe that Charlie is a teenager. He seems to be having the time of his life living on the farm.

The comments section loved that Charlie was making the most of his golden years. "There’s a reason doctors used to prescribe country air," one person pointed out. "He is enjoying his retirement," another commenter kidded. "That’s it, I’m buying a d—n farm, my 13-year-old Brittany Spaniel ain’t going anywhere," someone else joked. "We took my college girlfriend’s dog to my parents farm to live out her last months. Dog out survived the relationship by about three years," one person shared.

Caring for a Senior Dog

Not everyone can pick up and move to the country as swiftly as this man did. But there are still many ways to lovingly care for your senior dog.

The key thing is comfort. Senior dogs will need to rest more than younger dogs do. You'll want to get them a nice dog bed and place it somewhere where they won't be disturbed. Similarly, make things easy for your senior dog. Their dog bowl, toys, and water bowl should be within reach for them.

Senior dogs may need to use the bathroom more often. If the changes are drastic, you may want to consult them with your vet.

You might have to make certain adjustments to your home, like buying rugs. Older dogs have a harder time walking on smooth or slippery surfaces, so any hardwood or tile should be covered so they don't take a spill.

As our dogs get older their needs will change, But it's always possible to give them a good life, no matter where you live.
