It was a goodbye to remember. Members of the Seattle Humane team were buzzing as they said farewell to resident "short king," Frog, one last time. The pup was shown so much love as he left the building for his forever home, as a heartwarming video online shows.

We have to imagine the team really relishes good days like this one. Even though it must not have been easy to say goodbye.

As the footage shows, one of Frog's handlers was pleasantly surprised to see that the Australian Cattle Dog was leaving that day. So of course he had to get some last-minute head scratches in before Frog left.

Frog even put his paw on his handler's arm as he pet him. We'd like to think that was Frog's way of saying "thank you for everything."

Eventually, the dog finally made it to his new owner, who was so patient as he (very slowly) climbed the stairs.

"A fond farewell to our short king, Frog, now known as Fig!" the video's caption reads.

It was a bitter-sweet goodbye for sure. But people in the comments section could tell he was going to be really happy. "He's gonna miss you but I don't think he wants to come back for more than a visit," joked one person. "Congratulations, Fig! Thank you to the adopter!!" someone else cheered. "The 'lil stems. I hope he has the best life," another commenter added. "I'm sooo happy you get the good days where you see them adopted," agreed another commenter.

Adopting From Seattle Humane

While this story had a happy ending, there are still so many animals at Seattle Humane who need a good home. That's where you can step in.

The process is somewhat simple; all you need to do is pay the shelter a visit to find an animal you click with or check out their adoption listings online. You may need to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire if your animal is in foster care. Then you'll reach out to Seattle Humane so they can place a hold the little guy.

The holding process lets the shelter know to keep an eye out for any paperwork you need to fill out, tells them you've paid the holding fee, and is a tentative promise that you'll finalize the adoption within 24 hours. It goes fast! Once everything is in order, you're as good as gold. A team member will let you know if your adoption is approved and if all goes well, you too will slowly walk your new pal up the steps of the Seattle Humane for one last time.

Goodbye is actually a great thing at a shelter. As Frog's handler understood completely.

"Never come back!" he joked.
