Langsford hits back after being accused of being 'vile' to Holmes

This Morning’s Ruth Langsford has clapped back after a viewer complained she was “vile” to her husband Eamonn Holmes, explaining: “It’s banter!”

The presenter responded after someone tuning into the ITV show took issue with the way she treated her hubby.

It came up on Friday’s programme as Holmes joked with his wife about the lack of tasty snacks at home.

Langsford jokingly referred to her husband as “portly”, then mentioned that the day before somebody had complained that she wasn’t very nice to him.

“Oh by the way, the lady who sent me a message yesterday and said you’re vile to your husband – it’s banter!” she said.

“Just saying,” Langsford added, as crew members could be heard chuckling.

Holmes - who has recently been suffering from severe chronic pain in his back - then quipped that it was his mum who had complained, joking that she did think Langsford was vile to him.

But his wife refused to be drawn.

“She doesn’t, she loves me,” she laughed, giving Mrs Holmes a wave through the camera.

The much-loved pair are back on This Morning because it is the school holidays.

Earlier this year Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary took over their regular slot, but Holmes and Langford still provide holiday cover.

The presenters started dating in the late 90s and tied the knot in 2010.

Langsford, 61, recently heaped praise on Holmes, saying he had helped her to accept her “wobbly bits”.

She told Closer: “I definitely feel sexy at 60, but a big part of this is thanks to my husband.”
