RUSH announces new outpatient center in Hinsdale will open by early 2024

Rush University System for Health, an academic medical center based in the Illinois Medical District west of the Chicago Loop, announced it will be opening a new outpatient center in Hinsdale by early 2024.

The center, RUSH Hinsdale, will open at 32 E. 1st Street, one block south of the Hinsdale Metra BNSF line stop, and the site of former office space.

The 9,900-square-foot center will hold 17 patient exam rooms and provide primary and specialty care, according to a news release from RUSH.

“In opening the Hinsdale center, RUSH continues to increase services and access to patients across the Chicago area,” Paul Casey, chief medical officer and senior vice president at RUSH University Medical Center, said in a statement. “RUSH is expanding and enhancing patient access not only through our more than 30 outpatient locations, but also digitally, with several virtual care options.”

RUSH operates out of more than 350 locations across Illinois and northwest Indiana, including 15 outpatient facilities around Chicago and the western suburbs of Aurora, Oak Park, Oak Brook and Yorkville, with plans to open more in the future.

“RUSH is expanding outpatient care in locations convenient to our patients, including bringing more primary care physicians close to home and enhancing access to the specialists our patients need,” Casey said.

According to Casey, Hinsdale was chosen due to its proximity to other RUSH outpatient facilities. “RUSH Oak Brook, which is less than four miles away, is home to more than 20 clinical specialties as well as X-rays, MRI, CT, ultrasound, bone density testing and laboratory services,” he said. “RUSH also is expanding cancer care for west suburban patients with a 55,000-square-foot comprehensive cancer center in Lisle, expected to open in late 2024.”

Earlier this week the Rush University Medical Center, alongside Northwestern Memorial Hospital, was ranked among the top 22 hospitals in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The U.S. News & World Report, a media company known for its consumer and analytics reporting, has received criticism recently over its yearly rating systems of hospitals and universities throughout the US.

Rush is pleased to be among this year’s top 22 hospitals in the country, but there’s still room for improvement within hospital rating systems, including U.S. News’, Dr. Brian Stein, chief quality officer at Rush, told the Chicago Tribune earlier this month.

“I think there’s still a lot of work to do at the national level on measuring quality, and I think that’s across all of the rating and rankings systems,” Stein said.
