Robbie Williams and Ayda Field quit 'X Factor' after just one series
Robbie Williams and Ayda Field have quit The X Factor, after just one season as judges and mentors on the ITV singing competition show.
The Let Me Entertain You singer revealed that the real-life couple were stepping down in order to concentrate on all the other things they have lined-up for the next few months, including the continuation of his Las Vegas show which kicked off in March 2019. He also touched on his upcoming appearance at London music festival, British Summer Time Hyde Park.

Detailing the decision on Instagram, he told his 1.8 million followers: “We’ve got some very big announcements coming soon – but we can’t reveal all yet. Sadly though it’s impossible to do everything … and we’re gutted to tell you we won’t be able to return to The X Factor this year.

“We will, however, be working on projects with Simon [Cowell] going forward – and as huge fans of the show, we will still be tuning into The X Factor, voting and winding Simon up.”
Actor Field shared the same statement, as well as its accompanying black-and-white image, on her own social media platforms shortly after.
During The X Factor‘s most recent series, Williams mentored the ‘Groups’ whereas Field mentored singers above the age of 28 in the ‘Overs’. However, it was fellow judge Louis Tomlinson – who mentored the ‘Boys’ – who walked away victorious though, following Dalton Harris’s win.
The news that the pair are officially leaving the show came just hours after Tomlinson addressed his own uncertainty about returning to the panel in an exclusive interview with Lorraine‘s Dan Wootton.
“It was such an amazing experience and I was nervous about doing it at first,” the One Direction star recalled. “It was really exciting, and getting involved in all the creative side was experience that’s hard for me to get in my day to day.”

“But if it’s going to get in the way of my mission for this year, which is releasing the album, it’s probably going to be less likely.”
Tomlinson stated back in April 2018 that he has been working on his debut solo album since 2016, so it’s safe to say that fans of his are desperate to see what he’s been up to.
