Rescuer's Heartfelt Message to New Hospice Foster Dog Has People Sobbing
Most people who go to shelters are looking for puppies. We get it, puppies are really cute! But there's lots of older dogs that need love and care in shelters too. One woman in Charlotte, North Carolina knew that she could give an older dog a good home during the very last days of life. And the story of her decision is so touching.
Chrissy has taken in so many dogs who were in desperate need of care. But her dedication to a dog named Orson is worthy of praise.
Many of the dogs the woman has taken in have had severe health issues. Others have been victims of abuse. In the video the woman shared online, it shows her most recent rescue.
To say that the dog was in trouble is an understatement. He looked rundown and needed some serious help. The dog was also due to be euthanized, but Chrissy vowed to be the dog's hospice foster, even if it was only for a day.

People in the comments section were so grateful that Chrissy was there. "Thank you for giving that precious baby a good home and love," praised one person. "Beautiful.....Thank you for giving him the home and love he deserves," someone else agreed. "BLESS YOU. YOU ARE AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN," one person exclaimed. "You are an angel. This sweet dog really NEEDED you. He would have died terrified and alone. God bless you for doing a hospice foster," gushed someone else.
Being in Hospice Foster Care Changed Orson Completely
As Chrissy explained in the video's caption, once she brought Orson home she had a lot of work ahead of her.
"I took you home and scrubbed years of mud from your body that you lived outside," she explained in the post. "I picked more ticks from you than I have ever seen. The fleas were so bad blood and fleas poured off you with every rinse. Your fur was so matted I finally realized you were struggling to move your legs. So we loaded you back up and had the vet team help shave you down."
Through all the hard work, there was no chance that Chrissy was going to let Orson go back to the shelter to die. He's since flourished while in her care.
"The gratitude in your eyes is something that I will never forget," she wrote. "I'm so honored to hospice foster you Orson," she wrote. "You are home now."
