Located in Granville, New York, Sleepy Pig Farm is an animal sanctuary founded by Tiffany Paltauf and her husband Joe Bonitatebus, with a mission is to rescue and protect farm animals. They've rescued hundreds of animals, and they share the animals' newfound joy and love for life with us all.

Pearl was rescued by the couple when she was just a calf, and she's one of my favorite animals at the sanctuary. She loves being the center of attention and in front of the camera! They shared a video at the beginning of April of her first moments of freedom after she was rescued from 'awful' conditions. They call her the happiest girl in the video, and I can see why...her little hops and zoomies will make your day!

I could feel her joy! She literally looked like she was smiling and beaming with happiness! Sleepy Pig Farm commenters left lots of happy face and heart emojis in the comments, and @Belle&Layla said it best, "What a precious baby!" Pearl loves hamming it up for the camera, and as a fan of the sanctuary, I always look forward to seeing her videos...she is so gentle and sweet! And here's an interesting random fact about cows; they never eat meat at all, so if you see "vegetarian fed" on a package, it's just a marketing ploy. They're all vegetarians!

How to Help Animal Rescues

Not all of us have the resources to rescue goats from slaughter or pigs from abuse, but rescuing an animal can happen in many different ways. By supporting animal sanctuaries like Sleepy Pig Farm, you are helping these animals. There are a variety of ways to do it, and most people immediately think of money. You can help by donating money directly to the rescue or through fundraisers and gift cards, or by purchasing food and delivering it directly to the sanctuary. All of this helps to feed and care for the animals, but there are also non-monetary ways you can help.

Every city and town has an animal shelter and many have animal rescues, and they always need help. You can donate your time by volunteering or helping to transport animals as needed. Another option is to foster animals like cats and dogs while they wait for their forever homes.

Word of mouth is a great way to help these rescues get noticed! You can promote a rescue's causes and posts on social media channels simply by liking, commenting, and sharing their posts like I'm doing here. It's an easy (and fun!) way to help these rescues reach a whole new audience simply by sharing a story or funny clip. These animals deserve a second chance, and every little bit helps!
