Animals make progress bit by bit. You can't rush it! Even when it comes to getting them to do things you'll know that they'll like. Take a note from one woman, who was so patient when she recently fed a stray wet food for the first time.

It all started when the woman decided to care for the neighborhood stray.

As the Gatitos Meow page shows, she started putting food out for the cat and he kept coming back. Before long she documented his little visits and commenters online begged the woman to set up an Amazon wishlist where they could donate to the cat.

That's where the cat's first can of wet food comes in. Someone graciously donated it to the woman, who's since made a bed for the cat outside and was determined to get him to try it.

The cat could barely wait for her to open the package. And when she accidentally spilled some of the wet food on the ground he charged over and quickly lapped it up.

"I think he loves it," she wrote in the caption. Which is a huge understatement if you ask us.

The comments section was here for the cat's newly found appetite. "There is no chill when it comes to wet food! Sweet kitty!" teased one person. "He knows he likes that the instant you open it! Love him!" someone else praised.

Although another commenter thought the cat had had wet food before. "Cats usually throw a tantrum once they hear the can open, he knew what time it was you just wasn’t prepared," they added.

How to Decide What Food to Give Your Cat

Wet food or dry? It's kind of tricky to know what kind of food to give your kitty — especially if you're new to cat ownership. There are ways to make the best decision for your pet. Like looking at their nutritional needs and size. Things like a cat's weight, size, and age actually are bigger indicators in how much food they need, which in turn can tell you what kind of food to buy.

Kittens and adult cats should be fed a diet of high-quality, premium commercial cat food. Just make you check the label to make sure it's designed for your cat's age.

As for wet vs. dry food that also depends on how much moisture your cat needs. Wet food has more moisture (and is higher in protein), so if your cat has hydration issues, kidney issues, or is a picky eater, wet food might be for them.

Wet food is definitely for this kitty, who now have the taste for the good life.
