Regal Shelter Puppy Surrendered Due to Owner's Health Issues Is Patiently Waiting for a New 'Castle'

While it's easy to assume that dogs either end up in the shelter because they were stray or because of a behavior problem, there are actually countless reasons why a dog may find themselves at the humane society. And most of the time, it's because of no fault of their own.

Princess, for example, is now waiting patiently at the shelter after her owner developed health issues and became unable to care for her. She's a sweet and beautiful white-colored puppy who's only seven months old, but she's sitting at the Humane Society of Broward County instead of in a forever home.

Fortunately, she has lots of friends who want to help. Shelter staff members gave this regal girl the spotlight in an April 11 TikTok video in hopes of inspiring someone to adopt her. If you ask me, there's no way this plan could fail!

Just look at this beautiful girl! Princess is far too sweet to spend the rest of puppyhood in the shelter, but it sure seems like the odds are in her favor. She's a puppy, she's a white dog, and she has the sweetest demeanor. Just look at that tail wag!

If this is how excited she gets to see her shelter friends, just think of what a happy dog she'll be every day when her owner comes home! She's definitely the kind of dog to wear her heart on her fur, and it shows.

On the one hand, it's very tragic that this shelter dog is looking for a new forever home because of her previous owner's health issues. Transitioning from home to the shelter isn't easy for any dog, but it can be especially confusing and detrimental when a puppy is so young. Fortunately, the Humane Society of Broward County works hard every day to make sure she stays in high spirits. And so far, so good!

Why Are There Puppies at the Shelter?

Some people believe that animal shelters only have a specific type of dog for adoption. Older dogs, especially, often end up at shelters instead of in homes—but is this actually true?

No way! Animal shelters can house dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes. You may notice the prevalence of a certain breed depending on where you live, but an online search will show you just how diverse adoptable dogs can be. If you're looking specifically to adopt a puppy, though, springtime just might be your best bet. This time of year, shelters tend to be swamped with puppies and kittens!

Princess and so many adoptable dogs like this royal girl are waiting for their Happily Ever Afters at a shelter near you. Please remember--adopt, don't shop!
