Ragdoll Cat Siblings' Opposite Facial Expressions Are Giving 'Pinky and the Brain' Vibes

For some reason, cats have picked up an interesting rap. On the one hand, they're known for being loving, cuddly companions that some people can't get enough of. But on the other hand, cats can be spiteful, destructive, and aloof.

The reality is that every cat is different, of course, but one lucky cat owner hit the jackpot with her virtually opposite kitty siblings. Merlin and Ivy are both adorable ragdoll cats, but some days, they act as different as can be. You can compare them to the sun and moon, yin and yang, or even to the cartoon characters 'Pinky and the Brain,' but however you see it--there's no denying how different they are.

Check out the brothers' hilarious April 2 TikTok video, and just try not to laugh at Merlin's undeniable grumpiness.

LOL! Merlin looks ready to throw paws at anyone who even dares to look at him. Once the enchantment of his floofy fur wears off on whoever meets him, the true effect of his angry face sets in. And then you can never unsee it!

Ivy, on the other hand, couldn't look more angelic. This beautiful boy (it's okay, even his owner didn't know he was a boy at first) looks like a cartoon cat with his luxurious light gray coat. And that sweet facial expression is just the cherry on top! It's no wonder why these boy cats' viewers cat get enough of their polar opposite looks.

While some commenters asked, "why is he so angry?" others couldn't help but compare the grumpy cat's look to other unhappy-looking characters. Someone even compared him to one of those 'mushrooms from Mario.' The angry-looking mushroom enemies from the Super Mario Brothers games are actually called Goombas, and they actually do look a bit like Merlin. Good eye!

The most popular comparison, though, is between these two ragdoll cats and two famous Animaniacs characters: Pinky and The Brain. Now, you'll never be able to unsee it!

Are Grumpy-Looking Cats Actually Grumpy?

While many kitties like Merlin can look intimidating with their unhappy faces, a facial expression isn't necessarily enough to tell a cat's mood from. Instead, take a look at their tail! A happy cat will have a tail that's standing up straight with the fur lying down flat. It may even be lightly quivering. When a cat is feeling angry, on the other hand, their tail might be held very low, 'thrashing back and forth,' or have fur that's standing up on edge.

Cats' body language can be more telling than their facial expressions, though whether Merlin and Ivy act as opposite as they look is a question for another video.
