A royal biographer has revealed what the Queen’s really like when she’s behind closed doors, including what a “great sense of humour” she has.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, says the 92-year-old monarch is different, depending on the circumstances.

She tells Yahoo UK‘s ‘The Royal Box‘: “If you meet her officially, she’s formal and tiny and beautiful and you talk about horses, that’s what I can always talk about with her.”

But Ms Seward reveals there’s another side to Her Majesty when she’s in a more relaxed setting and can let her guard down among friends. She spoke about one encounter she had with the Queen at a semi-private party.

“Everyone had a nickname and she spoke in riddles and this is what it feels like to be one of her friends.”

“[She has a] Great sense of humour and her whole face was relaxed and smiling and she was telling funny stories, she’s quite a wit.”

The Queen, who will turn 93 next month, posted her first Instagram photo at the Science Museum last week.

On Monday evening, she will be joined by the senior members of the Royal Family for the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
