The Queen's funeral: Who is hosting the BBC, ITV and Sky coverage?

Broadcasters have announced their plans for covering the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday, confirming the line-up of presenters and reporters who will appear.

Major coverage is planned on the BBC, ITV and Sky, who have cleared their schedules for the day to devote all of 19 September to the funeral, with ITV and Sky cancelling advertising throughout their broadcasts.

Here are the presenters viewers can expect to see and hear on Monday.

BBC

The broadcaster has planned extensive coverage across its TV and radio outlets throughout the day, spanning all the UK and the World Service.

TV

Coverage on BBC television will be led by Huw Edwards, Kirsty Young, Fergal Keane, David Dimbleby and Sophie Raworth.

Huw Edwards and Fergal Keane will be covering events from London, Kirsty Young and David Dimbleby will be in Windsor, Sophie Raworth will be at Parliament Square, Anita Rani at the Long Walk at Windsor and JJ Chalmers at Wellington Barracks.

BBC Breakfast will lead into the state funeral coverage, set to begin at 8am and run through until 5pm, which will be simulcast on BBC One, BBC Two and iPlayer, and includes a BSL interpretation on BBC Two.

It will then be followed by news bulletins, round-ups of the day, commemorative programmes and a broadcast of Paddington 2.

Radio

A special broadcast of the funeral and the days events will be simulcast on BBC Sounds, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Scotland between 9am and 1.30pm, and 2.30pm to 5pm.

Martha Kearney will present events from London and Windsor, with Allan Little inside Westminster Abbey, analysis from royal correspondent Jonny Dymond and commentary on the procession route from Ken Bruce, Mishal Husain, Emma Barnett, Clive Myrie, Adele Roberts, John Murray, Mike Costello, Rachel Burden, Nuala McGovern, Chris Mason, Jamie Coomarasamy, Andrea Catherwood and James Naughtie.

Eleanor Oldroyd will be inside St George’s Chapel, with commentary on the procession route from Naga Munchetty, Paddy O’Connell, Alistair Bruce-Ball, Julian Worricker, Anna Foster and Tony Livesey.

BBC local radio joins the funeral coverage with a special programme from 10am to 2pm, while BBC World Service English will broadcast the procession, the state funeral service and the committal service.

BBC Radio Ulster’s coverage will be lead by William Crawley, BBC Radio Cymru will have Dewi Llwyd, Alun Thomas and Garry Owen covering the funeral and Dylan Jones for the committal service, and BBC Radio nan Gaidheal has announced Cathy MacDonald as presenter for the funeral and Aithris an Fheasgair for the committal service.

BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio 6 Music will cover events in their news bulletins and run amended schedules, with Radio 1 Dance and Radio 1 Relax simulcasting Radio 1 on Monday.

All live stations will observe the two-minute silence during the funeral service.

ITV

Good Morning Britain will preview ITV's funeral coverage from 6am, with the main broadcast beginning at 9.30am lead by Tom Bradby and Julie Etchingham, who will be joined by a number of special guests and royal experts.

Mary Nightingale will lead coverage from Westminster Abbey, while royal editor Chris Ship will be in London and Windsor.

Rageh Omaar will be with the armed forces at Wellington Barracks, Nina Hossain will be on the Long Walk in Windsor speaking to people paying their respects, and Charlene White will be with mourners in London.

ITV will also include a number of round-ups, documentaries and news bulletins in the evening, with Queen Elizabeth II: The Final Farewell at 9pm focusing on the day’s events and narrated by ITV News' James Mates.

It will be followed by an extended News at Ten presented by Tom Bradby.

Sky

Sky's coverage, which is also ad-free for the day, begins at 5am with Kay Burley who is live from Westminster Abbey to explain to viewers how the day will unfold, leading into reporting on the funeral procession from 9am and the state funeral service from 11am.

Anna Botting will be reporting live from Westminster and Dermot Murnaghan will take over at 2pm from Windsor Castle as the procession makes its way from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch, before concluding at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle via the Long Walk.

Sky royal events commentator Alastair Bruce will provide analysis of the historic events, while Kamali Melbourne and Gillian Taylor will be at Windsor Castle and in London speaking to the public who have turned out to pay their respects.

At 7pm Mark Austin will reflect on the day from Buckingham Palace, followed by a round-up show at 9pm and Anna Botting returning for the News at Ten from Buckingham Palace.
