The show was given a rebrand in November, with series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa expressing delight at the renewal order.

As well as Gish, the second season will also give a more prominent role to Jordan Gonzalez’s Ash Romero, the first transmasculine character in the franchise.
“I never was very good at getting my school work finished, guess I'll have to spend some extra time in Summer School,” said Gonzalez upon the announcement. “A massive thank you to everyone who has been on and supported this journey with me. Words will never be enough gratitude. Let the lies continue.”
Original Sin/Summer School took the Pretty Little Liars franchise in a slightly different direction from the main show, with the reboot embracing horror tropes by incorporating the slasher sub-genre.
