The Nebraska Humane Society is reporting that sometime Sunday night someone dumped an adorable dog in a dumpster in the parking lot at Sweet and Associates, an accounting firm in Omaha. Animal control officers were called at 10 a.m. Monday when employees discovered the little dog.

The tiny Cavapoo mix had his head wrapped in duct tape and front and back legs taped together.

This story thankfully has a happy ending because after the wonderful staff at the humane society sedated the little pup and removed the tape, upon additional examination it was discovered that he had a microchip.

His owner, Erin Dillon-Pasillas, said she and her family spent the weekend desperately searching for him after she believed he slipped out of the door to their house on the 11th when she was taking her son to school.

Leo did have to be shaved to remove all of the tape and gunk from his fur but the little dog was in good spirits, even more so when his family came to collect him. The shelter quoted Erin as saying, "He’s the sweetest dog! I don’t know why anyone would do this,” said Erin, who was incredibly emotional upon learning what happened. She is going to be giving him a nice bath and taking him to his vet for a full check up."

What To Do If You Witness Animal Cruelty

If you witness direct physical violence to an animal, report the incident immediately to authorities. Some people try to approach the abuser if the abuse is taking place in front of them, but in certain situations, that can be extremely dangerous.

If you suspect animal hoarding, or if a neighbor has recently moved and abandoned their pets, contact authorities immediately.

Before you contact your local Humane Society, animal control agency, or the police, try and write down any specific details or observations related to the suspected animal cruelty, including the address of where it was taking place, what time of the day it was, and description of what you say. Whip out your cell phone and take photos and videos of the situation if you feel it is safe to do so.

We are so happy Leo is safe and sound now but we really hope the person or people who committed this heinous act is found.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact Animal Control at 402-444-7800 ext 1.
