Dan Walker hits out at Piers Morgan after he criticises Harry and Meghan

Piers Morgan has hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following last night's ITV documentary on the pair's royal tour of Africa, only for breakfast TV rival Dan Walker to jump to defend the Duchess of Sussex.

Walker claimed the Good Morning Britain host is "picking" on Markle, who Morgan claimed suddenly ceased contact him after the pair struck up a friendship in 2015.

"Imagine being two staggeringly privileged royal multi-millionaires going to Africa to make a documentary that supposedly 'shines a light' on poverty, violence against women/girls & racial inequality - then in fact making it all about their own terrible struggle? I mean, FFS," Morgan, 54, wrote on Twitter.

Sharing Morgan's tweet, Walker, 42, then added: "Imagine being given a TV show & a newspaper column & using them both to pick on a woman who didn’t want to go out for a second drink with you."

The two continued to argue on the social media platform, with Morgan describing the BBC Breakfast host as a "sycophant".

"Imagine being the dullest, most excruciatingly virtue-signalling, tediously opinion-devoid, toe-curlingly snivelling sycophant on TV? ps For the record, I never asked Meghan for a drink, she asked me," Morgan said.

Continuing the war of words, Walker replied: "Imagine losing the plot (and the argument) to the “dullest, most excruciatingly virtue-signalling, tediously opinion-devoid, toe-curlingly snivelling sycophant on TV” #TearsForPiers."

Last night in Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, which charted their engagements in Africa, both the Duke and Duchess opened up to reporter Tom Bradby about the effect press coverage had on them.

Markle divulged that her British friends had warned her away from the Prince when she first told them about their relationship, telling her "the British tabloids will destroy your life".

Meanwhile, the Duke shared that the press intrusion "hurts, especially when it's untrue", saying that the click and flash of press cameras served as "the worst reminder" of his mother Princess Diana's life "as opposed to the best".

Morgan criticised the Duchess last month for "wanting to be a celebrity princess" before branding claims that she faces racial abuse as "nonsense".
