Do you have a cute cat or dog with a big personality who loves to play with toys? If so, you might want to apply to have them become one of PetSmart's next Chief Toy Testers! PetSmart announced the opportunity on their Instagram page at the beginning of May, and it sounds like a lot of fun!

They are looking for dogs and cats to test out their toys every quarter for a year. Cool gig, right? But not only that, they also pay their CTT's a 'salary' of $10,000 and they have a chance to be a model for store signage. Your pet could become famous!

What a fun job! 2023 was the first year that PetSmart introduced their Chief Toy Testers, and I was surprised that I'd written about Whiskey (the dog) and Loki (the cat) before! They both have such fun personalities, and I can see why they were chosen. I've even seen Loki play with the cat toys they sent her! As you can imagine, commenters were excited by the news, and many shared that they'd already applied. If you think your cat or dog would make an amazing CTT for PetSmart, you can learn more and apply here. But hurry! Applications close on May 29th.

Why Toys Are So Important for Pets

We have a puppy who loves to play with her toys. The problem is she gets bored with them easily, so we always end up buying her more. She has more dog toys now than my kids did when they were little!

Most pets enjoy playing with toys, but toys provide so much more than just entertainment for your pet. Toys help your pets get exercise - something all pets need to stay healthy. Whether it's playing fetch in the backyard or batting a ball around in the living room, physical activity is important not only for physical stimulation but for mental stimulation as well.

Speaking of mental stimulation, toys also keep their brains active and provide problem-solving, exploration, and sensory stimulation opportunities. Toys also keep our pets busy, which is important as well. Bored pets can become destructive, and the last thing we want is for our pets to chew or scratch on furniture, shoes, baseboards, and clothing. And yes, I am speaking from experience!

Certain toys can even help keep your pet's teeth healthy. Dental chews and rubber toys allow them to chew, chew, chew while cleaning their teeth and reducing dental plaque. If your dog has stinky breath, it can help with that as well...so can these homemade dog breath mints - they work, and I give my dog one every day.

I think holding the title of Chief Toy Tester would be a lot of fun! I'm going to check it out and see if my dog has what it takes to become the next PetSmart toy tester...it would be nice not to have to buy toys for a year!
