Pedestrians left stranded as suspension bridge swings onto its side in China

Pedestrians became stranded on a suspension bridge as it tipped over onto its side in northwestern China.
Video filmed in the city of Longnan in Gansu Province on October 24 shows several pedestrians standing upright on the twisted bridge.

Nearby residents helped the pedestrians walk to the end of the bridge slowly and brought them back to safety.

According to the local government, the bridge was damaged in several places due to flood erosion. The bridge had been repaired and was awaiting a check when the incident happened.
