Being away from home is hard, coming home is easy. Especially if you have an African Grey Parrot who loves you. Like one woman, who received the warmest welcome back from her parrot Cosmo and shared the adorable exchange online.

When we think of affectionate animals we tend to think of dogs — but Cosmo is giving them a run for their money.

The bird mom must've been on Cosmo's mind while she was away because she was overflowing with praise and love.

"I missed you," Cosmo told her in the clip.

"I missed you too!" the African Grey Parrot owner replied. "I miss you so much, when mama went out."

She then went to get Cosmo some food, causing the bird to blow her a kiss.

"I love you," Cosmo said. "You love me?" she asked.

"I love you," her mama assured her.

The bird kept blowing her mama kisses and telling her how much she loved and missed her. It was incredibly sweet.

Commenters were also feeling the love. "Awww how much reassurance she loves, it shows how bonded you are and how sensitive these birds are," wrote one commenter. "She’s so cute. I love how she answers what you're talking about," another woman added. "I'd never leave the house again unless she was with me," one commenter jokingly vowed.

The Best and Worst Parts of Owning an African Grey Parrot

Cosmo could pretty much convince anyone to go out and get themselves an African Grey Parrot ASAP. But before taking the leap, it's important to know the pros and cons of owning a bird from this chatty breed.

Let's talk about the good parts. African Grey Parrots are incredibly intelligent — they even have the cognitive ability of a young human child. These birds have the ability to problem solve, love to learn, and will push themselves to learn more and more. These birds are silly and affectionate (clearly) and will form strong bonds with their owners. They have a long lifespan — about 50 years in captivity.

Now some of the pricklier parts of parrot ownership. African Greys are sort of high maintenance. They need a lot of attention, affection, and mental stimulation to be happy. There's no real way you can leave them alone for hours on end and expect them to stay happy. In fact, alone time can leave them depressed or bored if it drags on.

Overall, we'd wager that most African Grey owners are happy with their pet. How could you not when they show you that much love?
