I tried Olay's Super Serum and can totally see why it's a sell-out success
If you haven't heard of Olay's Super Serum allow us to get you up to speed. The powerful serum is the biggest innovation in the brands 72-year history and gained huge success in 2023 when it first launched in the US. It quickly became the brand’s fastest ever product to sell-out, with one selling every minute. While the UK had to wait a while for it to become available, it finally launched in April exclusively at Boots and sold out within hours on release day.
Luckily, it has since been restocked and has quickly gained popularity in the UK, too. Rather impressively, 92% of Boots reviewers say they'd recommend the product as it has helped with the appearance of fine lines, while also leaving skin feeling soft and brightened.
But with a usual retail price of £39.99 (currently reduced to £19.99), it's a lot more expensive than usual Olay products, so I wanted to see how well it worked and if it really lives up to the hype.

What makes it so great? I was keen to put it to the test to discover exactly why it's such a hit among shoppers, so I have been using it every day, morning and night, for a month.
💸 Reasons to buy
Firstly, the bottle is beautiful, with a thick frosted packaging that has an iridescent finish - it looks great on my bathroom shelf. Of course, what's inside it is even more important.
Unlike many serums, which feature one or two key ingredients, Olay’s Super Serum combines five powerhouse active ingredients to deliver five serum benefits in one. This unique and potent formula helps to improve skin texture, even skin tone, firm skin, smooth visible lines and provide long-lasting hydration.
The ingredients are what makes this serum so effective. Bursting with the likes of Niacinamide, Vitamin C, Collagen Peptides and more, each ingredient works together to essentially nourish and hydrate deep beneath the skin.

When I first applied it, I was skeptical about the colour, imagining it would leave an unwanted sparkle across my face, but it doesn't at all.
Once rubbed in, it leaves behind no trace of colour at all. It has a pleasant but subtle, floral scent that's inoffensive and didn't cause any irritation on my sensitive skin, so I think this is a great all-rounder serum.
Overall, I found it very effective at smoothing and soothing my skin. It's ideal if you want to simplify your daily skincare routine, ensuring your complexion gets enriched with a ton of recommended ingredients in one easy step.

While I enjoyed using it daily, I think the full price of £40 is a very expensive, even if the serum does smell nice, feel nice and creates a smooth canvas for make-up application.
Beyond that, I didn't see a dramatic difference in my skin after a month, so while it didn't irritate my existing rosacea or hormonal acne, it's not a magic solution for your skin issues either, but no skincare product ever is.
