Strictly Come Dancing contestant Nigel Harman has laughed off those "inevitable" curse whispers surrounding him and pro partner Katya Jones.

Over the last four weeks, the duo have impressed judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse with their ballroom chemistry - scoring a tasty 33 thanks to a Salsa routine this weekend.

But while catching up with Metro, both Harman and Jones were forced to address whether the former's marriage to The Bourne Ultimatum actress Lucy Liemann was at risk of succumbing to the dreaded scandal, which infamously affected the Russian choreographer's relationship with Neil Jones back in 2018 after kissing Seann Walsh.

"Well, I strapped your leg yesterday, your calf, that was such a moment," joked Jones, to which the Casualty star dryly replied: "That was romantic..."

Harman added: "To tell you the truth, I don't operate or move in those circles, so that's the first I've heard of [the curse rumours].

"But, you know, it's inevitable and it's part of signing up for the show, but I couldn't be less interested."

He and Liemann tied the knot in 2011 before welcoming a daughter the year after.

Further into their chat, Harman revealed how he and Jones initially bonded over his "bad interpretation" of a dance move while they were preparing for their first performance together.

"There was a moment in Week 1, we've got it written down because we made a note of it, we were just doing something and it struck us at the same time as being really ridiculous and we started laughing. We were crying with laughter!

"And I remember distinctly at that moment, walking to my water bottle to have a moment in rehearsals because I couldn't breathe, and thinking, 'This is gonna work,'" he said.

"There are a handful of people you can really laugh with in the world, and that's as important as crying, they're all mixed in together. So I thought… we're gonna be alright."
