A woman has spoke of her experience of being stalked by her ex partner, who interfered with every aspect of her life and followed her after their relationship ended.

David Malone secretly took a long-range photo of Bethany Eagle, 39, as she walked on a cliff and sent the image to her.

Malone placed a tracker on her car and had another key made in order to take her vehicle away when she was staying away from their home to get away from him.

Ms Eagle said Malone also fitted a hidden camera to a clock inside her bedroom.

After they separated, Ms Eagle says Malone would follow her while she was out running.

She says she suddenly saw Malone in a car park and sprinted up the cliffs at Watergate Bay near Newquay, Cornwall, to get away.

Days later he sent a circled photo of her on the cliff with the caption ‘that is you btw’.

Describing the photo incident, Ms Eagle said: “I ran there all the time, so I don’t know how many times he was watching.

“I was coming across the car park, and I saw him. I looked up and saw a person and thought ‘oh my god’ – I knew it was him.

“I turned my music up on my earphones and just stared at my phone.

“Then he’s gone onto the beach, stood there and watched me go onto the cliffs and taken a photo.

Malone, 50, from Lusty Glaze Road in Newquay, pleaded guilty to stalking at Bodmin Magistrates' Court.

The court heard how between January and November last year Malone stalked Ms Eagle by following her, placing trackers on her cars, and making various unwanted communications.

Malone was fined £1,600 and ordered to pay court related fees of £245.

A restraining order was also made preventing him from contacting Ms Eagle in any way.

Ms Eagle now hopes her experience can help other people seek help from potential stalkers.

She said: “Men need to know this is actually illegal.

“If he can spy on me, he can spy on anyone. I just want people to know enough is enough."
