How to watch the Grand National 2024 FOR FREE: TV channel and live stream for Aintree race today

The Grand National takes place today as the jewel in the crown of British horse racing dominates sporting attention at Aintree.

It’s set to be a competitive 176th running in front of a bumper crowd of the world’s biggest steeplechase, which this year has seen the number of runners reduced from 40 to 34.

Several other changes are being implemented in 2024 in a bid to further improve safety, including a standing start and the race being moved to an earlier time.

Last year’s winner Corach Rambler is back looking to successfully defend the title he won for Lucinda Russell, though he could face a stern challenge from the likes of I Am Maximus, Limerick Lace, Meetingofthewaters, Vanillier and Panda Boy.

There are plenty of other races on the schedule for the third and final day of the Grand National Festival at Aintree, including the keenly anticipated Liverpool Hurdle.

How to watch the Grand National 2024

TV channel: In the UK, the Grand National is being shown live and free-to-air on ITV1, with coverage of the afternoon’s racing beginning at 12:55pm BST.

Coverage of the National itself is from 3:15pm, with the race getting underway at 4pm - around an hour earlier than usual.

Live stream: The race will also be available to watch live and for free online via the ITVX app and website.
